Straw and reed thatching materials
Combed wheat straw
Combed wheat straw is a uniformed material with head and butts at opposite ends to each other. When applied to the roof it gives a rounded smooth finish.
As its name suggests, is a material that is harvested from wetland reed beds. It is uniformed like wheat straw but more hard wearing, giving a crisp and smooth finish.
Is a drum threshed material that comes in a more random fashion, with heads and butts mixed together and when applied to the roof gives a very rustic appearance.
